A chef needs to know not only how to cook but has to have insight and knowledge of food and, especially, hygiene. Ramsay is a good example of the best characteristics of a chef. He not only knows food, he knows ALL food and all cuisines. He enjoys food and reveres cleanliness. On the current show most of the contestants are little more, intellectually, than hamburger joint meat flippers. None has probably ever cracked a book by Escoffier or even watched the Iron Chef shows from Japan. I speak from experience having brought up my son to enjoy fine foods and he has developed into an award winning chef who receives rave reviews in food and travel publications. It takes more than frying pans to make a chef. It takes the same kind of talent as a great violinist or painter.

I've watched about 6-9 episodes. Its great but it feels staged. I mean, how can he make everything right in a few days? Like four or three days at maximum, at first they are in denial, arrogance, and stubborn and what not and suddenly they're enlightened? It is possible but kinda hard to believe.

I don't understand why people like this show. It is no different from last year. The show is the Chef screaming. Also intimidates everyone that crossed his path. You just do not learn anything. The contestants learn nothing to do with cooking. Running a kitchen maybe, growing very thick skin yes, but cooking No. I know I would not last. I would have already taken a frying pan and knocked Chef Ramsey out. There is no dynamics between any of the contestants. This show needs a good grease fire. Let it burn. OK now I need 10 lines. Besides the food network, if your looking for a good reality cooking show I highly recommend Top Chef.That show is entertaining and they also learn something about cooking.

Anyone else notice the nose wipes of Megan and other blondie on season 20 episode 11 right before service, after that high fives??? Tsk, tsk.

I know that Michael really wants to win, but I lost a lot of respect for him after he hid moved the beef from the refrigerator hiding it from Jessica. Michael obviously was the culprit since he found the meat so quickly. Jessica didn't deserve that. But no one said that the contestants had to play fairly. Does anyone agree with me? I'm glad that Jimmy finally won a challenge even though his flambé' wasn't the neatest in the group. I'm surprised that Jimmy lasted as long as he did by not yelling back at Ramsay. If only he could have held out a bit longer. However in the long run, maybe he isn't ready to have his own restaurant. I do however think that the last two standing will be Ralph and Michael.

Funny how some of these so called "award winning guest chefs" can't get food names correct, check season 14 episode 4,what chef doesn't know how to say gyro correctly when referring to food.

Gordon never should have rejected Chad Gibbs on the show like that. And stealing his future recipe for those delicious burgers and fries at all of Gordon's restaurants is so cruel. But, Chad Gibbs is back and better than ever. He his here and has learned from his past. We all know who the real chef is here Gordon.
